Four Signs You Need a New Job

Sometimes we put up with a lot, because we don’t want to leave our jobs. It’s easy to fall into a comfortable routine or settle into a position because of the benefits. However, professional and financial advancement is always the goal, rather than staying in place. There are a few signs you are becoming complacent and sacrificing happiness and fulfillment.

  1. No Advancement: If you’re holding the same position with the same salary and benefits as you were three years ago, it’s a red flag. Good companies will always make room and opportunities for advancement for their employees. Stagnation leads to complacency and a downward spiral of unhappiness and hopelessness.
  2. You Don’t Get Feedback: Communication between employees and management is critical. If you’re not hearing from your employer, you won’t know what to do to advance or learn new skills. If your manager isn’t actively engaged in your career, you need to find someone who will be.
  3. You Don’t Learn: You should constantly be advancing your skills with your job. If your job isn’t challenging, you’re not learning. If you’re not learning, you’re setting yourself up to sit in the same position for years on end. Your workplace should keep you on your toes if you don’t want to become complacent.
  4. Other Employees Are Unhappy Too: Does it seem like someone is always leaving the company? Are your coworkers always on the hunt for new jobs? People won’t stay if they’re not feeling fulfilled and happy. When you see others exhibiting the same restlessness, it’s a good sign the company isn’t where it should be.
